Competition Levels

There are 3 main levels of competition – Regional, Provincial and Performance.

Performance events are for ISU (International Skating Union) Junior and Senior athletes who are training and skating at a performance level. These athletes have met a series of standards and are on an official Performance Program list.

Provincial events are for L2T and up skaters, who have met a minimum time standard.

Regional events are for all other skaters.

Each skater must be registered as a competitive or elite skater with BCSSA (British Columbia Speed Skating Association) & SSC (Speed Skate Canada) to be eligible to compete in any speed skating competition. A skater may only be affiliated with one provincial Speed Skating Club during the current competition calendar year.
