BC Academy, BC Cup & BC Winter Games

BC Academy Eligibility – ST & LT
 
The BC Speed Skating Academy (“Academy”) is a BCSSA initiative to supplement the development of in-province, Stage 1 and 2 skaters on the Elite Athlete Pathway. Each Academy session will feature two groups:
 
Stage 1:skaters are “club elite” T2T-aged skaters (11-15 years old), training 300-400 hours per year (2-4 ice sessions per week during the skating season).
Stage 2:skaters are Junior-aged skaters (14-17 years old), training 400-500 hours per year (3-5 ice sessions per week during the skating season).
 
BC Cup Series*
 
Open to all L2T, T2T, Junior and Senior skaters who are registered as competitive or elite members of BCSSA and whom have meet the minimum time standards as stated in the “2019-202 Competitions Format Bulletin July 2019.”
 
*The BC Cup Short Track circuit (BC Cup ST #1 and #2) are qualifiers to BC Short Track Provincial Championships – March 14-15, 2020 in Abbotsford, BC.  Further details have been released in the “Competitions Format Bulletin July 2019”

​**The BC Cup Long Track competition is not a required qualifier meet for BC Long Track (BCLT) Championships .  The BCLT Funale competition is available for those skaters who do not meet the age/time eligibility for the BCLT Championships. Both competitions will run concurrently Jan 25-26, 2020 in Fort St John BC.  
 
BC Winter Games
 
Skaters must be age eligible and qualify for their zone (Zone 8). Please refer to the BCSSA website / Events and Results / BC Winter Games for additional information.
